Q&A
How did Sociology, your undergraduate course, help and motivate you in your study of law?
It honed my study habits and developed my views in life and the society. We were given numerous reading materials involving different theories of the society. In law school, I was only surprised with the type of materials since we did not have any law subjects in Sociology but not with the volume of reading assignments. Sociology as a degree made me aware of our status quo and it made me feel like I wanted to do something more – to help. The biggest question then came to mind: how can a simple individual do something? The dream of becoming a lawyer was born. I see this profession as a medium to address the injustices in the society.
What qualities are you looking for in a mentor?
As a lawyer who is always eager to learn, I am enthusiastic to learn and experience different aspects of legal practice. I need a mentor who can not only introduce me to the vast and fascinating practice but who can nurture my knowledge and interests as well. A mentor, for me, can constructively criticize my work but at the same time entertains and respects my ideas. I want him/her to openly and candidly identify my strength and weaknesses. I want to learn from the best and experienced. This the primary reason why I chose TJ Law.
How do you intend to charter your career path in law?
Even before entering law school, I was already a civil servant. I know for a fact that I am called for public service may it be in the private or government practice. I want to be someone who can introduce a significant change to this imperfect society. I want to be someone who is known for not only my skills but most importantly of my commitment and integrity.
