Fritz Micah A. Diumano

Senior Associate

Micah’s seemingly at odds unassuming yet inquisitive nature provides rhythm to his approach in addressing the complex legal problems confronting his clients. With a practice primarily focusing on litigation and alternative dispute resolution, Micah breezes through this often cutthroat and unpredictable field with tactical preparation, quick thinking, adaptability, and resourcefulness.

His legal career is marked with a conscious effort to refrain from dogmatism in the course of advocating for his clients. Instead, Micah ensures that his arguments bear resonance through a comprehensive understanding of unique facts, circumstances, and evidence in each case while using law and jurisprudence as a guide.

Well-versed in criminal, civil, administrative, and arbitration cases, he began his legal training as an associate in the country’s biggest law firm where he advised and represented clients in oil, energy, and banking sectors.

At work, Micah leads in his cases by encouraging effective collaboration and communication among his colleagues as well as his clients. His precise guidance to more junior lawyers of the Firm almost always ensures synchronous harmony in handling even the most intricate legal matters.

Experience has taught Micah that there is so much to learn in every field of law and that knowing how to ask the right questions is, most of the time, better than knowing the right answer. It has also taught him to assume that the other person knows something he does not. A music lover who has admired the creativity of the greatest composers and songwriters, Micah believes that lawyers should not confine themselves to the knowledge learned in their classrooms but rather aspire to enrich the legal profession by exploring novel ideas.

Q&A

You have a passion for history as a subject. What fascinates you about it?

I find the stories of important events and people very interesting. What fascinates me about the subject is that history has the ability to shape one’s perception about people and events. I think it primarily influences how we view several personalities and the events tied to their names.

But then, when you learn the law especially the rules of evidence, you begin to question these historical narratives of different authors and gain a deeper understanding of the importance of self-study and research in forming one’s opinions and judgments about particular persons and topics.

How has this passion for history helped you in your practice?

Well, it has taught me that in litigation, the other side will almost always paint a rather slanted narrative about an adversary by portraying him or her as the “villain” in the story.

But my approach to studying history and the rules of evidence have always prodded me to dig deeper in order to unlock and uncover the real context and degree of truth or falsity of the narrative being put forward by the other side.

It seems that you are also fond of music and you mentioned that you particularly love rock music. How has this helped shape your personal views and philosophy?

You see, rock stars seem to enjoy life and understand its brief and fleeting nature in the greater scheme of things. What their lives and music teach me is that for all the hard-work that life demands of us, we also deserve to enjoy the good things that go along with it. Yes, life is more of a gift to be enjoyed than a problem to be solved.
