Q&A

How do you apply the discipline you gained in your years of martial arts practice to the legal profession?

Practicing the art of Taekwondo for over a decade has helped me develop my strength of character, which I still aim to continually build. At an early age, I learned to constantly exercise self-control and perseverance. Looking back, every match I fought taught me how to observe and anticipate the opponent’s next moves as well as adapt to challenging situations. As a result of years of rigorous practice, Taekwondo honed my ability to exude grace under pressure and fortified my indomitable spirit. Now, I apply the discipline to the legal profession by learning how to calculate every offensive attack towards, and defensive stance against, the opponent

Would you consider yourself a leader or a team player?

My ability to easily adapt to various settings allows me to be either, depending on what the situation calls for. I am ready to step up when the game requires a front-runner. However, I can also balance it with being a committed team-player. I was very fond of joining various organizations inside and outside academic institutions. These experiences taught me how to take on both roles and equipped me with the tools necessary to take on various challenges.

What is one significant thing you are learning while working in TJ Law, and why is it important to you?

As one of the first associates of TJ Law, I learned that the constant exchanges of ideas with colleagues plays a big role in my growth as a lawyer. Being new to the legal practice, a healthy dialogue on the possible remedies and suggested stratagems helps me develop my skills and abilities as a lawyer. I am most privileged to be working with and surrounded by brilliant and unselfish Partners and colleagues who patiently share invaluable insights and learnings. Furthermore, working in TJ Law with people who provide warmth in the seemingly cold facade of the law firm practice is definitely a bonus.
